Situated in the heart of bustling Fort Worth, Texas, Burke Burnett Park provides a respite of lush greenery, open space, and a glimpse of the city’s past. Spread over approximately 12 acres, the park is nestled between the Trinity River and the central business district of downtown Fort Worth. With its diverse amenities and inviting atmosphere, this historic green space offers entertainment, relaxation, and a refuge from the hustle and bustle of the city. Distinct from many other parks in Fort Worth, Burke Burnett Park is located on a piece of land that has held a special role in the city’s history. The park takes its name from Ed Burke Burnett, a lieutenant in the Confederate Army who served at the Battle of Shiloh in the Civil War. After the war, Burnett returned to Fort Worth, where he became a prominent businessman and banker. In his later years, Burnett bequeathed the land he owned along the banks of the Trinity River to the City of Fort Worth on the condition that it be used as a public park. In 1914, Ed Burke Burnett Park was officially opened.
